From Field to Fire: Exploring Wild Food, Biodynamic Farming and Local Resilience

This is our fourth gathering and we are going “wild”.

Join us at Gullivers Farm for an evening exploring the connections between land, wildlife, farming, and the food on our plates.

Set within a biodynamic farm, this Food for Thought event invites us to slow down, look more closely at the landscapes that sustain us, and consider how food can strengthen both community and resilience.

Throughout the evening, we’ll hear from a local deer stalker about ethical wildlife management and the role of venison within our local ecosystems; from Reg Pielesz on butchery, craftsmanship, provenance, and whole-animal use; and from Bethy and Tim, who will share their approach to biodynamic farming and building community through nature, respect, and food.

Together we’ll explore questions such as:

What can biodynamic and regenerative approaches teach us about stewardship?

How do traditional skills such as butchery help reduce waste and reconnect us with the realities of food production?

What could a thriving local food economy look like?

The evening will also include food cooked over an Argentine-style grill, bringing the conversation to the table through a shared meal that celebrates local produce, skilled craftsmanship, and the relationship between landscape and plate.

At the close of the event, there will be a chance to roast a marshmallow or two over the fire pit. (Guitar or Ukelele anyone?)

As always, Food for Thought is about bringing together farmers, producers, chefs, educators, policymakers, businesses, and curious citizens to strengthen our local food community through conversation, connection, and shared learning.

This event remains a free event but we ask that you pay for food.
