For several years now ASP has been holding the questions:
“What is beyond sustainability?“,
“What will create the transformation in society and our economies that will move us from “being less unsustainable” to actually creating a world that is in harmony and balance with nature, that results in enough for everyone forever – a truly sustainable way of living?“
The emerging response is “regenerative”. We are now seeing this idea being applied to every aspect of the work, e.g. regenerative marketing (Jane Shaw), regenerative communications (Charlie Peverett), regenerative journalism (Gary Spinks) and many more ASP Members. It is a fundamental shift from “doing less harm” to creating positive impacts. It changes not just the work we do but how we show up. It’s not a superficial re-packaging of established and often inadequate ways of doing business and ways of consulting.
But what is it?
Khandiz Joni has developed and written a comprehensive online foundation course (with a lesson on Living Systems contributed by Sarah Spencer from Think Like a Tree) – for facilitators and consultants exploring regenerative approaches.
The full course, The REGENASYST Facilitator Bootcamp: Foundations, consists of three modules and 11 lessons designed to provide practical skills and frameworks for multiple disciplines.
Exclusive Offer for ASP Members
Several ASP Directors have reviewed this and feel it is an important milestone that should be made available to all ASP Members to encourage them to adopt and lead with regenerative practices in their own work.
To offer an accessible entry point, Module 1: Understanding Regenerative Facilitation Khandiz has turned this into a stand-alone micro-course and made it available to all ASP Members on a Pay-What-You-Can basis.

What’s Included?
- Lesson 1: What is Regenerative Facilitation?
- Lesson 2: Why Regenerative Facilitation?
- Lesson 3: Learning from Nature (contributed by Sarah Spencer)

In Khandiz’ own words…
Why I created the course
“I remember the moment I realised the work I was doing as a sustainability consultant wasn’t creating the change I hoped for. The frameworks and concepts I’d been taught were logical and technically sound but ultimately uninspiring. Perhaps too intellectual and abstract for my non-academic self. Unrelatable and impractical in the real world. Something critical was missing for me. I felt it in my body. Systems kept breaking in new ways, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was part of the problem.
This course emerged from that discomfort—my search for better ways to work with complex systems. I couldn’t afford the facilitation programmes that called to me, so I created my own learning path. I absorbed knowledge through reading, watching, and listening. I experimented with clients and trusted my intuition, even when it contradicted conventional approaches.
What excited me most was discovering that my instinctual methods were actually grounded in regenerative principles that others had been developing for decades, and Indigenous communities had been practising for generations.
I created this course partly for my own sense-making and to improve my facilitation practice, but also to make these concepts accessible to anyone curious about the topic and wanting to test the waters. I know many are unenthused by technical academic jargon or inhibited by financial barriers.
This course represents my learning edge—not the polished product of decades of expertise, but an honest sharing of what I’ve discovered works. I’ve designed it to provide the essential foundation for anyone beginning their regenerative facilitation journey or using my REGENASYST games.
My hope is that this course inspires you to trust your instincts and cultivate your unique approach to creating transformative conditions in any system with the skills and ideas I share in it, regardless of where you are on your learning journey. This is just the beginning of what could become a lifelong practice—a foundation upon which you can continue to build as you experiment, learn, and grow your own way.“
