A few years ago I had a chance conversation with a remarkable Apprentice Elder. What was meant to be a quick chat turned into two-and-a-half hours of insight, empathy, connection, tears and, for me, a deeper understanding of sustainability than I’d ever before achieved. Hungry and curious for more of the same; but not one for ‘networking’, I tentatively accepted an invite to join a conversation with ASP.

Since then, ASP has been a fundamental part of my personal and professional development, and intrinsic to the emotional support that all of us in this space so desperately need. It’s a place where I am repeatedly moved, challenged and inspired; where deep friendships have evolved; and where I’ve learnt so much about myself and the world around me. The quality, breadth and depth of thinking and ideas, all within a place of compassion and kindness, is a constant source of wonder – it is a place like no other that I know of.

To be invited to become a Director of ASP is a genuine privilege.

My day to day work is communication and ethical marketing. I care about making transparent, responsible and ethical businesses become the norm. Personally I’m focusing on how happy, content lives can be the outcome of – and the driver for – our response to the environmental crises.

In 2022 my family and I started living a Beyond Growth lifestyle. We emigrated from the UK to the unceded lands of the Coast Salish peoples, living on an island on what we now know as the west coast of Canada.

I hope my professional and personal background enables me to bring perspectives and experiences to ASP that help us all raise awareness, create positive action and support fellow practitioners.
