For this session we were joined by mythologist and storyteller Sam Crosby, who brings a practical application of mythology and wisdom to our modern day problems. The session was designed to help change-makers, practitioners, conservationists, and beyond navigate the intense pressures, grief, and exhaustion of working within challenging systems and even just in the world.

Sam frames the core crisis of our time not as scientific or ecological, but as a deep crisis of separation; from each other, our natural environment, and the “all that is”. This separation is heavily driven by a pervasive cultural story: “I’m not good enough“. Sam encouraged us to discover how to stop seeking to face life’s immense challenges as an individual “I” and instead face them as a people, while also shifting from connecting with nature to connecting as nature.

Partway through the session after sharing some stories and myths, Sam introduced us to a new framework of his called the Ancient Clarity Triangle, mapping three common behavioural “pressures” caused by the “not good enough” story against three ancient resource supports of Peace, Wisdom, and Courage.

You can watch the session back below and try out Sam’s narrative exercise which can work as a ‘diagnostic’ method if you would like to follow the questions along and see your own results here.
