Alan Raw – “Innovation & Technology”Director

When I was asked to become an ASP Director, it was an instant yes. I believe I have some useful experience to share, and a lot that I want to learn and do as an ASP participant, so I was happy to go for it. My experience is predominantly in technology, green-tech development and innovation. As we face the climate and ecological crisis together it may seem overly solarpunk, but I do hold great optimism for the technology of the future, as I can see the many positive stories being written in the communities around us. I am keen to see our planet begin to heal very soon with our help, through positive action in this global regenerative movement.

I have been a member of The Association of Sustainability Practitioners for over a decade, having joined to find support and guidance to train Green Teams for music festivals. Since then I have gained a wealth of knowledge and inspiration from the wonderful projects that ASP members are developing internationally, and I always look forward to our meetings.

I am also an active member of The CEC Network and Friends of The Earth, and I find that being part of the ASP community helps me to be a more useful participant in other communities. ASP is a community of innovators and very creative practitioners, and in my role as Innovation & Technology Lead, I will endeavour to support the ASP community in shaping a more sustainable future.

My own work is quite varied, I am cofounder & Chief Sustainability Officer at Pan Galactic. A multi-award-winning green-tech SME on the UK Space Agency LEO Program. We are members of ECSECO European Centre for Space Economy & Commerce., and a supplier with the European Space Agency.

As a CSO, a sustainability practitioner & permaculturist within Pan Galactic, I have been working with partners Optimal Cities to enable sustainable planning for communities facing the effects of climate change, including flooding and air pollution, using satellite technology & AI to plant the right tree in the right place for the best outcome.

I am Humber Eco Fest & Conference Founder & Festival Director, now working on adapting the Humber Eco model for other areas to use through ASP.

I am the voluntary CEO/Co-Founder & Curator at The Creative & Cultural Organisation, established in 1993, sustainability award-winner & home of Hull Climate Emergency Centre, repurposing unloved spaces to provide studio/exhibition/workshop/growing space for creatives & meeting community needs.
