– Understanding the patterns and biases that drive our thinking
Jonathan Bowring, a leadership and organisational coach with a corporate management background, will lead us through this discussion about how our biases impact our choices.
Our brains are capable of remarkable feats and rapid responses. But they also work from learned patterns, preferring short cuts to hard thinking. We’re biased in ways which influence our judgement and decision making. This session will examine different mechanisms in our thinking, and their limiting tendencies. We’ll consider the effect of patterns, narrative and cognitive bias – how they shape our view of the world and the decisions we make. This will help us understand why others don’t believe as we do and suggest strategies for persuasion. We’ll also consider the effects of our own biases!
