“… how can we solve these problems without imposing our cultures, beliefs and ideals on those with differing cultures, beliefs and ideals?”
I have been passionate about sustainability ever since I started on my sustainability education journey back in 2018. Since then I have worked on projects in sustainability education (both school and university level), climate change activism, sustainable entrepreneurship as well as completing my university dissertation on using behavioural change to explore the barriers to sustainability that students face.
I have realised that sustainability is at its core a problem-solving task. It is a problem we all need to work together to solve and is also a challenge of perspective and awareness:
- How can we solve these problems without imposing our cultures, beliefs and ideals on those with differing cultures, beliefs and ideals?
- How can different individuals with different backgrounds create practical solutions that work for the planet, the people and the economy?
This problem solving makes sustainability an exciting and evolving area to be involved in but it’s urgency also makes it an essential area to be involved in.
