ELTC.earth Named as Third Place Winner on NovaUCD’s 2022 Student Enterprise Competition Business – Ireland - 23 June 2022, NovaUCD today announced ELTC.earth, as the third place winner of the 2022 NovaUCD Student Enterprise Competition and a €2,000 cash prize. ELTC.earth empowers communities of advocates to deliver meaningful action on climate change using an ecosystem of products, services and resources to aid them on their sustainability journey. The ELTC (Every Little Thing Counts) platform addresses the reasons why people cannot or do not act. It enables people to implement their own personal actions, alleviating their eco-anxiety while tackling climate change meaningfully. The NovaUCD Student Enterprise Competition, now in its 8th year, is an intensive 4-week mentoring programme for student entrepreneurs run by NovaUCD as a framework to support undergraduate and postgraduate students who want to work together to develop and grow start-up companies. Hi, I’m Damien. I’m on a journey to create solutions at scale that will support and motivate the behaviour changes that will lead to a more sustainable, equitable, healthy, happy future for everyone on the planet.

I’ve been almost 25 years in the software industry solving customer, commercial and behaviour change problems for companies.

I started out as a software engineer but quickly gravitated towards the front line of customer experience. I’ve led global teams responsible for technical and customer support, professional services and even commercial programs.

I want to invest as much of my capabilities and talents into leaving the planet a better place for my children so within the past few years, I founded OSO to improve collaboration, innovative thinking and workforce engagement for businesses through mediums of enhanced mental wellbeing, sustainable practices and a sense of purpose for employees.

“Climate change is causing eco-anxiety in your employees. How are you addressing it?”

“In today’s world, eco-anxiety and a sense of purposelessness are real challenges. These feelings are often compounded by a sense of isolation and the perception of limited impact from individual actions. This has an outsize impact on Millennials and Gen-Z, who make up the majority of the workforce and assess employers based on the values and impact they have.

This was the third iteration to identify a solution at scale. As I say, it is a journey so I continue to explore the ways I can best utilise my skills in strategy, change management and collaboration to influence the changes we need to see on our planet.

The things I enjoy outside of work are cooking, developing my carpentry skills, coaching my children’s sports teams and spending time in nature.
