BUSEF  (Bournemouth University Social Entrepreneurs Forum) convened another fantastic online forum to support knowledge exchange between social entrepreneurs. Chaired by Dr Sukanya Ayatakshi-Endow. Three speakers talked about the transition for businesses from physical offices to more distributed and home-based ways of working and what this means for staff and employers.

Linda Farrow, ASP Director and Founding Director of affordable, low-carbon homes start-up, Agile Homes (www.agile.property), spoke about the transitioning of her team from an office in Bristol to a fully distributed team. Shelley Collins, of the Dorset Growth Hub (DGH) described the support and advice measures and partnerships that were available to businesses to navigate the new Covid reality. Claire Main (@MrsClaireMain) ended the speaker line-up to describe the role of Economic Development in a post-Covid economy at Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council.

The discussion centred on how to support proactive, tailored staff communication and engagement, recognising that each individual’s challenges as a result of COVID were unique to them. This required empathy and energy, as well as open sharing of ideas and solutions. No one person held the answers, so collaboration and reaching out to make full use of financial support measures and business advice alike were essential.
